The Antigonish Heritage Museum was opened to the public in June of 1991.
It became a reality through the efforts of the Heritage Association of
Antigonish and its' dedicated volunteers.

For several years in the
1980's the Association operated out of rooms made available to it by the Municipality County of Antigonish.
At the West Street location the process of
collecting artifacts, books, and archival materials began.
Visitors were welcomed and research carried out. The organization
grew.
With the end of passenger rail service on the local line,
the railway station building became available. It was purchased by
the Town of Antigonish and offered to the Heritage Association of
Antigonish for use as a museum.
The museum
operates year round and receives major funding through the Nova Scotia
Museum Assistance Program, Antigonish Town Council and Municipality
County of Antigonish. Its' mission is directed by a Board
comprised of twelve members representing Town, County and members of the
Heritage Association of Antigonish.

their talents to enhance the objectives of the Museum. Volunteers
fill vital roles in our organization and their help is essential to our
ongoing operations.
