Every April, prayers are said and wreaths are laid in memory of the Highlanders who died in the battle and to those who fled from their homes for Northern Nova Scotia after the Battle of Culloden.  While the battle is recorded as a loss to the Scottish warriors, the exodus that followed was a tremendous boom to our great land.  To this day, the monument honors those settlers and soldiers who survived the uprising and the crossing to forge new lives in the new world.  Every year their descendants and lovers of Scottish pageantry came to honor these brave souls.  The Culloden Memorial Ceremony will continue to be celebrated annually hereafter through the dedication of the descendants of the Highland Pioneers of Knoydart and surrounding areas and the Federation of Scottish Clans in Nova Scotia.
