Every Tuesday this summer between 1pm and 3pm, we will be hosting a Victorian Tea open to the public free of charge.

Every Thursday this summer we will be hosting a different locally-themed event, open to the public free of charge.
 
 
 
 
Grand Opening - June 5th 2011
This event was held between 2pm and 4pm. Scott Jones, local pianist, provided entertainment while members of the Pictou County Historical Society enjoyed tea and refreshments.  After some mingling, speeches were made and board members and staff were thanked.

Celidh on the Porch - Thursday, July 14th 2011
Our porch played hostess to local musical talent all day long and much fun was had by everyone!  If you didn't get out, you missed a great event, but our display on the history of ceilidhs is still up so come out and enjoy that while it lasts!

African-Nova Scotian Quilters - Thursday, August 11th 2011
The Vale Road Quilters came and had their quilts set up for the public to view.  It was a successful event that many people attended.  If you weren't able to make it out, you missed some pretty fantastic quilts!
                  
 
                   
                
Jodi DeLong - Thursday, August 18th 2011
Garden guru, Jodi DeLong will be in giving a presentation on late-blooming flowers at 11am with a lunch to follow, then finishing off the day with a walk around our own Frank Calder Historic Garden with a Q&A period.  Jodi is renowned for her knowledge of gardening and is excited to visit New Glasgow.  Let's give her a warm Pictou County welcome by coming out to hear what this guru has to say! 
 
A small admission fee will be charged as a fundraiser for our museum, as well as there being a raffle, and books Jodi will be selling for herself.  So come out, bring your wallet, bring your smile, bring your curiosity and enthusiasm, and this should be a great day!
