Summer Events The museum has several annual events that occur, and some special events each year. Here is the schedule of events for 2005.
June 4th, 2005 - 12:00 - 3:00 Annual Grand Opening of the museum. Everyone Welcome. Refreshments to be served. June 20th, 2005 - Calling all kids! Come and see the town's oldest bicycle. Bring your own bicycle and we will help you decorate it with balloons and streamers. June 28, 2005 - Popular local entertainer Sunshine Sue will be with us from 12:00 - 2:00 to do face painting. What a great way to start summer vacation with the little ones. There is a small cost of $1.00. July 4th, 2005 - Back by popular demand. This Doll collection display was a hit last year. Jessie Smith of Trenton has very generously loaned the museum approximately 50 dolls from her collection of roughly 2000. There will be all kinds of different dolls. The collection will be on display from July 4th to July 18th, 2005. July 16th, 2005 - Woodcarver, Robert Reid will demonstrate his carving of Wood Spirits in the garden area. We are going to hide some of them throughout the garden for you to try and find. The demonstration will be from 1:00 - 3:00 weather permitting. Rain date to be announced. These carvings will be for sale for anyone wishing to purchase one. July 17th, 2005 - Artists in the Garden. The Artist's Guild will be having painters in the garden from 1:00 - 4:00 (weather permitting). Come and watch a painter at work. Paintings will be for sale for anyone wishing to purchase one. July 18th, 2005 - 1:00 - 4:30 - To kick off the first day of our tea pot display we are having Tea on the Verandah with tea being supplied by Mrs. MacGregor's Tea Room in Pictou. There will be different teas and an assortment of sweets to go with the tea. The cost is $2.00. For those of you wishing to have your tea leaves read, Karen Hambley will be on hand and for an extra charge will tell you all the future has to hold! July 18th, 2005 - This next two weeks we will be featuring a Tea Pot Display at the Carmichael Stewart House. Drop in and see the many styles of tea pots we have on display. Display will be from July 18th to August 1st, 2005. July 22nd, 2005 - Children's "Victorian Games" Day from 12:00 - 3:00. Come and play I Have a Basket, Deer Stalker and more. No admission but donations are always welcome. August 1st - 8th - Fire Department Display. August 14th, 2005 - If you missed the Artists in the Garden, they're back again this month. Drop in from 1:00pm-4:00pm. August 15th-22nd - Pictou County Antique Bottle Club is again displaying some of their beautiful and unique antique bottles. August 17, 18 and 19th - Brown bag lunch with entertainment in the garden area. Bring your own lunch from 12:00 - 1:00, listen to local entertainment and enjoy the garden. There is no admission fee. August 19th, 2005 -Annual Lemonade on the veranda. The public is welcome to join us for free lemonade on the veranda while watching the Festival of the Tartans parade at 6:30pm. Sponsored by Scotsburn. August 27th, 2005 - We will be hosting a Fairy (miniature) Garden Workshop for little girls aged 5-12 from 1:00 - 3:00 in the garden area. Pre-registration is necessary by calling 752-5583. The cost is $10.00. September 17, 2005 - There will be a workshop for adults making concrete garden mushroom ornaments. These can be left plain or painted and make a nice addition to any garden. Workshop runs from 1:00 - 3:00 and pre-registration is necessary by calling 752-5583. The cost is $20.00. The museum and garden area is open daily (except Sunday) with no admission charge.
