Nicolas Denys was born in France in 1598. He came to "Acadia" in 1632. A fisherman - lumberman - trader - promoter of settlements and writer he is recognized as a maker of history for over half a century. He lived among the Mi'kmaq for 40 years and provides an invaluable picture of the country and it's people.
