The book "Place-Names and Places of Nova Scotia" was originally published in 1967 by the Public Archives of Nova Scotia. A second edition was printed by Mika Publishing Company in 1974. Permission was obtained from Nova Scotia Archives and Records Management to digitize the content and maps pertaining to Pictou and Antigonish Counties. The images used throughout the website were kindly provided by Norman Munroe and Conrad Poirier.

Data entry was performed by Rachel McCabe and Fern MacDonald. Rachel McCabe, a Technology Trainer at the Scotsburn Community Access site, was funded through a grant from Human Resources Development Canada. The website was designed and created by Fern MacDonald.
