Children's Ongoing Programs

 

Babies Best Start
These are sessions for parents with infants and/or young children where parents/caregivers may consult privately with a public health nurse. This is an excellent opportunity for you to have your baby weighed and to meet one on one with a Public Health Nurse to discuss any concerns you may have regarding your infant. Information and support is available about breastfeeding, infant feeding, healthy eating, parenting, infant care and child safety. Sponsored by the Public Health Department.

ABC's for Babies
A special program for parents/caregivers and babies (newborn to 18 months). Babies get rhythmic and patterned stimulation, rich language experience, varied auditory experiences, the bond between you and your baby is strengthened by pleasurable physical contact, eye contact and voice contact. You and your baby have a good time together.

Preschool Storytime
Preschool Storytime is for preschool children ages 3 - 5. Staff offer stories, songs, rhymes, and crafts for children.

Toddle Time
Toddle Time offers parents and caregivers a comfortable place to introduce their children to books and other children. For children ages 15 months - 3 years of age. Activities include stories, games, finger rhymes, poems and songs.

Young Reader's Club
This after-school program is for children Grade 4 and up who enjoy reading and offers fun activities about books, authors, crafts, snacks and fun discussion.


Antigonish Library

ABC's for Babies

This is held in conjunction with Kids First located at 27 St. Andrew's St., Antigonish. No registration is required. Call 863-2486 for details. 

Preschool Storytime

Babies Best Start

The Pictou Library offers an ongoing program for mothers to meet and speak to a Public Health Care nurse.  Mothers can have their child weighed and discuss health concerns. 

Young Reader's Club
Thursday, March 4th, 3:30 - 5:30 p.m.
For children in grades 4 to 6.  Held every first Thursday of the month.  For this occasion, the group will receive books from Judy Blume's, Fudge Box collection.  Please call the library at  485-5021 to register. 

Children's Scrapbooking Club
Saturday, March 20th, 1:00 p.m.

Teen Reading Club
Thursday, February 25th, 6:00 - 7:00 p.m.

This program offers young people an opportunity to share their thoughts on novels the group will read.  Light snacks will be provided.  Please call the Stellarton Library at 755-1638 for more information.  For children ages nine to twelve.  This group meets the first Tuesday of each month.  For March, the group will be reading the award-winning novel, "Skellig", by David Almond.
