Crystal Fountain Rebekah Lodge No. 11

            Crystal Fountain Rebekah Lodge No. 11 was instituted on October 11, 1896, by Grand Master J.P. Grady and Grand Secretary J.C.P. Frazee.  The Lodge received its charter on August 11, 1897.

            The Charter members were John D. MacKean, John Foley, John A. Roy, Mannie MacKay, Mrs. John Foley, Mrs. John A. Roy, Mrs. J.W. Murray, Miss Lottie MacKay, William Hayman, Mrs. Elizabeth MacDonald and Miss Maggie Roy.

            The Lodge has been very active over the years.  The Scotia Hall, in which the first meetings were held, was destroyed by fire and rebuilt in 1923 at the corner of Main and College streets.

            The history of the Lodge included the following members and their titles: Sister Annie MacBean, president of Rebekah Assembly; Muriel Goode, president of Rebekah Assembly; Lady Isabel White, president Department Association Ladies’ Auxiliaries; Col. Sam Gordon, Department commander, Grand Scribe and Grand Representative; Robert Dickinson, Grand Patriarch and Grand Representative; John Ross, Grand Secretary; Robert MacKenzie, Department Commander; Sister  Barbara MacKenzie, president Rebekah Assembly; and Charles Swan, Grand Patriarch and Grand Representative.
