 So it was that only after I left the public schools, there came to the belated knowledge that even a little village, whose historical importance has never justified the inclusion of its name in the text books of its own Province, nevertheless could have an interesting history of its own. So from time to time as facts have been gleaned, I have endeavoured to arrange them in this present form so that all those who care to know may find in them some knowledge of the story of the land that is theirs.
