About Family:

The province of Nova Scotia provides many community based services and programs for children, youth & family. Children, youth, and their parents can always use some support. Pictou County Partners is a database of agencies for children and youth.

* This may have been affected by the pandemic.

Information, counselling and educational programs are provided by Education & Early Childhood Development and Family Service of Eastern Nova Scotia.

* To see a full listing of family programs in your area search "Child, Youth and Family" at 211 Nova Scotia.

Young Children and Parents:

  • The Pictou-Antigonish Regional Library runs regular programs for young children throughout their branches, such as Pre-school storytime ABC's for Babies (0-18 months) and Toddler Time. See their Events calendar for the times and locations.
  • Educational programs for young children (ages 0-6) and their parents are available through Kids First.

Children with disabilities:

If you have a child between the ages of 0-5 who is at risk or has been diagnosed with a development delay, Nova Scotia Early Childhood Development Intervention Services may be able to provide information, support, and services. Please visit their individual websites to find locations, contact information and specifics about programs.
