Housing Information:

  • Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation offers mortgage loan insurance, mortgage-backed securities, housing policy and programs, and housing research. Their website hosts a large amount of information about housing in Canada. You can contact them if you cannot find what you are looking for on the website.
    • Housing for Newcomers provides information about renting and buying in Canada that is specific to newcomers.
  • Housing Nova Scotia offers programs to help low-income households, seniors and persons with disabilities.
  • Affordable housing information provided here, by the Pictou-Antigonish Regional Library, are links to housing information and a housing tool kit that is specifically based on the Pictou County area.

Real Estate Companies:

Depending on your community in Antigonish or Pictou County, there are a variety of options for realty companies. Contact a couple of realty companies before deciding on one. For a list of companies in your area search the Yellow Pages.


If you are not interested in buying a home you can rent an apartment or house. To help you understand the renting process the Government of Nova Scotia has created Renting: A Guide for Tenants and more detailed information can be accessed through Access Nova Scotia Residential tenancies.

  • Kijiji: hosts ads for a variety of materials and services. You can search through the listings by your area and then the items you are interested in. Under the real estate section there are many listings for buying and renting homes or apartments.
  • Rent Antigonish: hosts ads for houses and apartments that are for rent in the area of Antigonish.
  • Zoeken Canada: provides a straightforward search tool to find housing rental listings in your area.
